Reimbursement rates have been driven to unsustainable levels, making it difficult for suppliers to provide quality care to their patients. Hardest hit by these cuts are rural providers, threatening access to care for patients in rural America.
Last year, Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) and Dave Loebsack (D-Iowa) introduced H.R. 2771, Protecting HOME Act of 2019, allowing for increased reimbursement rates for durable medical equipment (such as walkers, wheelchairs, canes, etc.) and oxygen equipment and supplies in areas of the country where reimbursement has been slashed up to 50% over the years. This bill is still alive and needs additional support.
This legislation will give home medical equipment suppliers the additional funds they need to continue to provide necessary medical equipment to patients all over the country.
