There have been many news stories and updates about the increase in the number of cases for COVID-19. It is important to remember that with this spike in cases, home medical equipment (HME) providers will continue to be on the frontlines of this pandemic, ensuring patients continue to receive the products and services you need at home, such as oxygen, ventilators, and other forms of equipment for patients who may be discharging from the hospital. They are delivering to homes that could possibly be infected with this virus. They are arming themselves as best as they can, but many are in short supply of personal protective equipment (PPE).
As cases start to ramp up again, it’s important that providers are equipped with the supplies they need in order to continue providing you with the highest-quality care. Now more than ever, access to quality care cannot be sacrificed. That is why we’re asking you to please take a minute to reach out to your legislators and let them know about the importance of home medical equipment access during this time of crisis. Hearing from patients directly about the importance of your suppliers during this pandemic can show CMS that HME providers are a necessity, and that they must stay in business to continue supplying these essential services to you.
